NIRAS provides comprehensive consulting services in relation to port terminals, coastal and marine civil works. We have more than 300 experts involved in ports and marine structure projects all over the world. Our experts are based in our offices in Denmark and in different locations around the globe.

The expertise of our experts covers all project phases including master planning, feasibility studies, input to environmental impact assessments (EIAs), consent, due diligence, design, construction supervision and project management.

In addition, NIRAS can be involved in the whole lifecycle of marine assets providing inspection and maintenance services as well as maintenance dredging design and management.

TOC Europe 2025

A big thank you from all of us in the Ports, Marine & Coastal team to everyone who stopped by the NIRAS stand at TOC Europe this year. It was a busy and rewarding few days – full of good conversations, sector insights and shared thinking around the challenges and opportunities facing ports and maritime infrastructure today. We had the chance to speak with a wide range of industry colleagues – particularly around the evolving role of green fuels and sustainable infrastructure in port development. We're pleased to be part of the ongoing conversation and to play a role in what comes next across the sector. We’re looking forward to continuing these discussions over the coming year – and to seeing many of you again at TOC 2026 in Hamburg next May.

NIRAS and Per Aarsleff A/S collaborate on a new port expansion in Varberg, Sweden

NIRAS is acting as a consultant for the Danish infrastructure contractor Per Aarsleff A/S in a major project involving the construction of a section of Varberg Port in Sweden. NIRAS has been responsible for executing the turnkey contract. The project, which spans from 2021 to June 2024, is designed for the storage and shipment of wood products.

Offshore Wind port expansion in the Philippines

Offshore wind has been a hot topic in the Philippine energy sector for only around two years, but developments have been rapid and significant as the Philippine Government accelerates its pivot to renewable energy sources and key industry players rally for further progress. A key enabler to the construction of offshore wind farms is the development of ports to act as offshore wind support bases.

Supporting the vision of oil to future energy at Sullom Voe

NIRAS is proud to have been awarded an up-to 8 year marine engineering consultancy contract with Shetland Islands Council (SIC) for the development and ongoing maintenance of Sullom Voe Oil Terminal (SVT) at the Port of Sullom Voe.

Świnoujście Container Terminal in Poland

DEME Concessions N.V. (Belgium) and QTerminals W.L.L. (the “Investor” in Qatar) have signed a preliminary lease agreement in 2023 with the Szczecin and Swinoujscie Seaports Authority for a deep-water container terminal. The proposed Swinoujscie Container Terminal is to be located in the coastal town of Świnoujście in the Baltic Sea, and is to be designed and built by the investor.

Lomé Container Terminal

The Lomé Container Terminal in Lomé, Togo, is a state-of-the-art container terminal, which in its final development stage will cater for 2.5 – 3 million TEU per annum (1.5 million TEU in a first phase).
