From pilot to demonstration scale
To transition from pilot to commercial demonstration scale production, NoPalm Ingredients sought the expertise of NIRAS to design a scalable and cost-effective bioreactor system.
Assessing options, developing the design
NIRAS led an initial workshop to assess low-cost options, applying its expertise in bioreactor design for alternative proteins and brewing. Together with NoPalm Ingredients, NIRAS developed a process flow diagram, mass and energy balance, basis of design and a CapEx estimate. These outputs demonstrated that the technology could meet the production goal efficiently and economically.
Ready to scale
The conceptual design provided by NIRAS has enabled NoPalm Ingredients to confidently move forward with scaling their production process and work towards their goal of reducing water, land-use and carbon emissions in the oil and fat industry.
