From blueprint to building site: Meet Magda Zagiczek, Site Engineer at NIRAS
When theory meets practice, careers can take unexpected turns
Magda joined NIRAS in 2019 as a student at Wrocław University of Science and Technology, starting as an Assistant Structural Engineer in our Wrocław office. She gained solid experience in design, BIM implementation, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
The internship that changed everything
What began as a mandatory construction site internship for her engineering qualifications became a career-defining moment. Magda discovered her passion for the dynamic, fast-paced environment of on-site construction work - and never looked back.
Today, she manages construction projects as a Substitute Investor's Representative, proving that design expertise and practical site experience create a powerful combination.
Where design knowledge meets real-world application
"I feel most confident with specialised reinforced concrete, foundation, and piling works," Magda explains. "The knowledge I gained in concrete design now supports me in supervising execution - conducting inspections and verifying compliance. I know what mistakes to avoid and what to look for to ensure quality and, above all, safety."
Her diverse project portfolio has built broad experience across different structural solutions, teaching her flexibility, quick decision-making, and effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
