Growth without financial strain

A family owned and operated business since 1980, Cotton Tree Meats, were challenged to obtain the proposed asset that would add significant value their existing business without overly burdening it financially.

NIRAS assessed the feasibility of strategic capital initiatives for the development of a new 1,200 sqm greenfield facility in Maroochydore, Queensland, to increase production in the boning and storage areas and produce for the domestic food service and wholesale markets. Right sizing the facility, NIRAS optimised material flow and functionality, applied construction smarts from global and multi-sector contexts, and oversaw competitive tendering for all major packages.

From vision to value

Cotton Tree Meats’ intention was to build the new facility on an existing parcel of land in Chevallum, providing the capability and capacity to achieve long-term business objectives within a future proofed facility, incorporating efficient design and construction methodologies.

“Since engaging with NIRAS in our project, they have been very punctual and direct from design to completion on how they can help. Backed by years of experience in the meat industry, it was the perfect partnership to getting our new facility built in a costly and timely process with full compliance from the trades we engaged with. We will certainly be engaging with NIRAS in any future projects, “ Luke Dunn, Director, Cotton Tree Meats says.

Results that matter

The redesigned facility was successfully tendered with Principal Contact awarded to Karloo and refrigeration to Buderim Air, at a final cost significantly below Cotton Tree Meats original budgets.

“It has been our privilege to work with Cotton Tree Meats over the last year to bring their vision for their business to a reality and look forward to the next evolution of this high quality family enterprise,” Glenn Jacobsen, Project Director, NIRAS Australia adds.

Together, NIRAS and Cotton Tree Meats have refined the initial preliminary design to provide a process-based industry solution, which incorporates key criteria for production flow and performance requirements for the business. This is a major initiative and step forward for the Cotton Tree Meats business and their customers, made all the easier with the continued support and input of the team at NIRAS.
