NIRAS Green Tech Hub
An innovation hub for accelerating green technology
NIRAS Green Tech Hub is an innovation hub located in the former IBM production halls at our head office in Allerød. The hub is not only a physical space. It also serves as a link between NIRAS, the wider industry and startups around the world.
The hub facilitates partnerships between large companies looking to accelerate their green transition and new innovations. In addition, the hub acts as an innovation consultant for competence development and future green solutions.
NIRAS Green Tech Hub is supported by the NIRAS Foundation, which works to put Danish engineering consultancy on the world map and create valuable partnerships with relevant research environments.
We have the competencies, network, experience and methods needed to accelerate the green transition through inspiring, radical processes and partnerships between small and large players.
- Sophie Bech, Hub Director
“The idea for the hub was born when the foundation acquired the old production facilities and saw an opportunity to create a bastion for startups and innovation. The basic idea was to support the green transition in Denmark and creative startups from around the world,” says Vice President, Frank Lyngsø, emphasising that the strength lies in mutual knowledge sharing between the companies in the hub and NIRAS’s extensive knowledge base and close relationship with clients.
NIRAS Green Tech Hub works closely with NIRAS through engineering support, networks, programmes, events and collaborative projects. That is why knowledge sharing and sparring with NIRAS experts are part of everyday life in the hub.
The hub offers several opportunities for startup companies interested in locating their business at NIRAS in Allerød. A flexible workspace includes 15 hours of advisory support from NIRAS experts, while a permanent workspace includes 30 hours of advisory support. In addition, each startup is assigned a mentor from NIRAS.
One of the hub’s current residents is former NIRAS employee Torben Wolf, who has now chosen to dedicate all of his working time to developing his own startup:
“It is a unique opportunity for us to be part of a community with other startups working in the same field and therefore able to act as genuine sparring partners in our daily work. But just as importantly, we can always drop in on experts at NIRAS and receive strong professional sparring. This has not only made us much stronger professionally in relation to our clients, it has also helped significantly with market access,” he says, adding that the startup had long been trying to get time with utility companies, but only received a response once NIRAS joined as a partner.
In addition to office space with advisory support, the green innovation hub also offers a wide range of innovation services within seminars and workshops, tech calls, pilot projects with large companies, innovation support and talks.
