The Board of Directors of NIRAS Group A/S has appointed 53-year-old Jens Brandt Bering as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NIRAS, with effect from 1 April 2026. He succeeds Carsten Toft Boesen, who has chosen to step down from the role after 25 years as CEO, making way for a carefully planned leadership transition within the Group.

January 14, 2026

Jens Brandt Bering currently serves as Group Director at NIRAS and has been part of the company since 2010. He joined NIRAS from a position as Head of Department at Alectia, which later merged with NIRAS.

Since 1 July 2020, Jens Brandt Bering has headed NIRAS’s utilities activities, leading 400 specialists within water and energy. In addition, he has a strong industry profile, including his role as Vice Chair of the Board at DI Water. He is also active in external professional forums, including an advisory board at DTU Sustain and as Vice Chair of the Association of Consulting Engineers.

Chair of the Board, Lisbeth Knudsen, comments on the appointment of the new CEO:

“For a quarter of a century, Carsten Toft Boesen has been the driving force behind NIRAS’s transformation and growth, and the Board would like to thank him for his highly successful leadership and his persistent focus on development and growth. We are pleased that we will continue to benefit from Carsten Toft Boesen’s deep experience through his role on the Board of the NIRAS Foundation.

With Jens Brandt Bering, we are appointing a CEO with deep business experience, a strong professional understanding of the green transition, and a proven ability to foster collaboration across disciplines, clients and geographies. The Board has already enjoyed a strong working relationship with Jens, and we have high expectations that he will lead NIRAS into the next phase of our growth strategy.”

Jens Brandt Bering says:

“I am motivated by contributing to societally critical projects together with skilled colleagues and partners — and by doing so in an environment characterised by trust and autonomy. That is why I truly enjoy being part of NIRAS, and why I will continue to do everything I can to contribute to the company’s strong development, market position and culture.”

Reflecting on the conclusion of a chapter, Carsten Toft Boesen says:

“It has been a tremendous privilege to work at NIRAS — a company with a strong, responsible and trust-based culture, where together with talented colleagues, customers and partners I have been given wide-ranging opportunities to develop the company into what it is today. NIRAS has been an excellent match for me, and the results I can look back on with both gratitude and pride would have been difficult to achieve elsewhere.

I am therefore pleased to maintain my connection to the company through my role on the Board of the NIRAS Foundation. At the same time, I look forward to the next chapter of my life, with more time for other interests, my family and board work. Finally, it means a great deal to me to be able to pass the baton to Jens, whom I have seen grow, take on responsibility and develop over the past 15 years into the ideal successor he is today. In fact, I would consider it a failure of leadership if NIRAS, after 25 years with me as CEO, had not been able to present a fully capable internal candidate.”

NIRAS Group stands on a solid financial foundation. In 2024, revenue increased to DKK 3,942 million, and EBITA for the year amounted to DKK 158 million. At the end of 2024, the Group employed 3,170 full-time employees.
