NIRAS achieves 33rd consecutive RoSPA Award

News
NIRAS has once again been recognised at the highest level for its commitment to workplace safety—demonstrating long-term, consistent excellence in health and safety management.
NIRAS has achieved a RoSPA Patron’s Gold Award for the 33rd consecutive year.
This milestone places NIRAS among a small group of organisations demonstrating long-term, consistent excellence in health and safety management. It also marks the company’s ninth Patron’s Award, a distinction given only to those with an exceptional, sustained record of performance.
The RoSPA Health and Safety Awards are the most prestigious in the UK and among the largest of their kind in the world. With nearly 2,000 entries from more than 50 countries, the awards set the benchmark for what good looks like when it comes to protecting lives at work.
NIRAS’ latest award recognises strong leadership in occupational health and safety, robust safety management systems, exceptional risk control across projects and operations, and a proactive, people-first safety culture.
"Consistency like this only happens when safety is taken seriously at every level of the business. It’s something we talk about openly, build into how we plan, and keep in focus throughout delivery. It’s just part of how we work."
Darren Toon, Projects Director
This recognition also highlights how NIRAS encourages practical, everyday contributions to safety—through open conversations, learning from experience, and giving people the tools and confidence to speak up when something doesn’t look right.
“Consistency like this only happens when safety is taken seriously at every level of the business,” says Darren Toon, Projects Director. “It’s something we talk about openly, build into how we plan, and keep in focus throughout delivery. It’s just part of how we work.”
“We’re proud to be part of a community that takes health and safety seriously—not just for compliance, but because it’s the right thing to do,” adds Kate Hall, Health & Safety Operations Manager.
By making safety a shared responsibility, NIRAS continues to build strong, resilient teams—ready to deliver not just technically excellent work, but safe, supportive environments for everyone involved.
We’re looking forward to celebrating alongside the other award winners at the RoSPA Awards ceremony in London on Tuesday 10 June 2025.
