We’re really pleased to share a recent piece of collaborative work from one of our Environment team members, Ella Curry, Ornithologist at NIRAS. Ella was brought in as an entomology expert to support the creation of a new Incredible Insects learning module – a partnership between WWF-India and ITZA Media as part of the global Wild Wisdom Challenge 2025.

July 29, 2025

ITZA is a digital learning platform that brings together educators, scientists, filmmakers, and designers to create engaging, curriculum-linked content for young learners. ITZA engaged Ella as a freelance entomological consultant to support the end-to-end development of the module, including the compilation, creation, and quality assurance of the educational content. From selecting species and reviewing film scripts and content, to training AI voiceover narration of BBC Studios archive footage and creating her own series of expert videos (‘Ella’s Expert Eye’), Ella played a central role in bringing the science to life in a way that’s accessible for young learners.

The incredible insects module aims to inspire the next generation of environmentalists by making biodiversity education engaging and inclusive. With over 400,000 students across India involved, from rural, tribal and urban schools alike, the module is now live on both the WWF website and ITZA's learning platform.

This project shows how collaboration between industry experts, conservation charities and digital innovators can bring science to life for young people. We’re proud to see Ella’s expertise making a real difference to biodiversity education—and can’t wait to see where the Wild Wisdom Challenge takes our future environmental champions next.
