Adam is a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 20 years’ experience predominantly in the field of Maritime & Ports. He has an extensive track record of delivering tailored engineering solutions on major maritime projects.

With a specialism in port masterplanning, his focus has been on international projects relating to container, offshore wind, general cargo and liquid bulk terminals. These have spanned the full range of a project cycle including masterplanning and feasibility studies, concept and preliminary design, detailed design, contract & site supervision and asset management. He has worked on maritime projects worldwide including UK, Middle East, Africa and Asia.


Adam is the smart and green ports lead for NIRAS. We help our wide ranging clients realise their smart and green port aspirations right from the initial steps, through to ongoing operational support. Wherever you are on your smart and green port journey, we can help with our impartial and practical approach, tailored to your unique aspirations and requirements.

Adam is also a Co-opted member of the PIANC UK Council.

Andrew Walker is an Associate Director with the overall responsibilities including developing clients, marketing, leading projects, tendering /procurement, site supervision and contract management. Having Andrew's input early into the design and engineering process adds value to any project with his exposure to the marine environment providing workable solutions.

Andrew is working mainly in the Heavy Civils Maritime sector where design for Piers, Quays, Harbours, Bridges, Breakwaters and Coastal Protection are all commonplace. Utilising much of Andrew's skillset he also interfaces our talent pool from the NIRAS Group to supply our UK clients with our company’s specialist expertise. 

Andrew is an advocate for Digital Asset Management helping guide our clients to streamline their existing process and open up opportunities for targeted effective maintenance.

Meghan Rochford is a key member of the NIRAS team, working with coastal development. 
 
With a focus on coastal infrastructure, she plays a central role in supporting both internal teams and external stakeholders across a wide range of projects. Her work spans critical sectors such as ports, coastal defences, and aquaculture, and she is instrumental in developing the company’s capabilities in permitting and consenting for complex infrastructure initiatives.
 
Meghan brings deep technical knowledge to her role, delivering robust impact assessments, baseline studies, and environmental modelling to inform decision-making and ensure compliance. She is also actively engaged with regulatory bodies and other key stakeholders to support effective, collaborative project delivery.

Jake brings a solid foundation in biodiversity, technical reporting, and environmental compliance, shaped by previous consultancy experience in ecological impact assessment and corporate sustainability.
