We are looking for a talented and experienced geophysicist/geophysical engineer with a proven track record in offshore wind farm projects and/or marine/offshore structures to be part of our activities in offshore, coastal and marine markets. You should have a flavour for project management and a desire to work across the disciplines and with colleagues in geophysics, geology and geotechnical engineering.

The geoscience resides in the geotechnical department in the Marine, Geotechnical, Tunnels and Bridges Business Unit. The business unit consists of +100 staff situated in Denmark, UK and Dubai, while also collaborating closely with offshore and marine energy colleagues in Sweden, Norway, Taiwan, Philippines and Vietnam.

You will join a growing and dynamic team of around 15 staff of passionate and knowledgeable geologists, geophysicists and geotechnical engineers, who actively contributes to the green transition through development projects in offshore wind, ports/terminals/harbours, coastal developments, tunnels, bridges and related infrastructure.

We are part of the Infrastructure Division, which works in a highly international environment with projects all over the world from our offices in Scandinavia, UK/Scotland, Middle East and APAC.



As Senior Geophysicist/Senior Geophysical Engineer you will lead and participate in NIRAS projects while enabling your knowledge, competences and experience to deliver world class projects to and with our clients. Typical activities include:

  • Scoping of site investigations together with team and relevant experts
  • Planning and Managing survey and permit works
  • Assessing geophysical and geoscientific data from offshore wind farm sites and cable routes during project development, and being responsible for technical deliveries to our clients
  • Preparing input to site section and feasibility studies
  • Reporting and communication of results being responsible for the seismic stratigraphy-based and geotechnically proven ground model, in close cooperation with our geotechnical engineers integrating a suite of different geoscientific datasets, e.g., UHRS, SBP, MBES, and SSS data, and geotechnical data, incl. responsibility for QA of geophysical data and associated interpretations
  • developing geological and geophysical assessment workflows and implementing innovative new technology and ways of working
  • aligning project-specific objectives, time schedules and end-deliverables for individual surveys, and data acquisition campaigns, together with geophysical surveys and geotechnical engineering colleagues.
  • Liaison with external and internal stakeholders/clients

To succeed in this position:

  • Relevant degree in geophysics or geoscience and solid experience with using this expertise in a commercial framework with an analytical yet pragmatic approach 
  • have solid experience with both seismic and seabed interpretation, incl. seismic processing, geophysical interpretation workflow, and preferably also programming and scripting skills, e.g., Python
  • Relevant geophysical experience from offshore wind farm development projects. Knowledge and competences in geology and geotechnical engineering preferred.
  • Experience in handling of competitive tenders and accompanied proposal management
  • Solid experience in technical/advisory project management
  • are motivated by technical challenges in a highly dynamic workplace, both independently and while working within a team
  • Motivated by working interdisciplinary in projects involving several technical disciplines
  • are driven to innovate and improve, having a real impact on projects and processes
