ASDSP project aims to increase the agricultural sector’s contribution to the national economy and to improve livelihood in rural areas in Kenya.
The Kenyan Agriculture Sector Development Support Programme (ASDSP) is a programme financed by the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) supporting the implementation of the Kenyan agriculture sector strategy. The programme aims at increasing the agricultural sector’s contribution to the national economy and at the same time improve livelihood in rural areas in Kenya. The increased benefit of small- scale producers and traders, from agricultural production, processing and trade is key in the strategy.
The strategy requires a change in the extension, including a broader group of actors providing services and a changed role of government. The harmonization between actors in the sector, involving government bodies, private actors and development companies, supported by the programme, will contribute to the efficient implementation of the strategy and thus to reach the targets for income and food security.
