The change of Office Director in Zambia comes at a time where NIRAS Zambia has 34 projects in the pipeline, and is going through a transition to be more closely integrated with NIC Head Offices and other African Local Offices as well as building even stronger internal management procedures and accounting practices in line with NIRAS´ corporate standards. To smoothen the transformation period, NIC management has agreed that the new Office Director should be someone, with extensive understanding of both NIRAS and the consulting business.
The 61 years old Bo Rosenqvist, known to many NIRAS staff is the perfect fit. Bo Rosenqvist´s s long track record within the NIRAS family started with organizational development of farmer and advisory service organizations in the Baltic States in the mid1990s to be followed by consultant, team leader, project director positions in both private and donor funded development projects in several East European and African countries up to late 2008.
He has a professional agricultural background with studies at the Swedish University of Agriculture and is running his own organic farming business with livestock since late 1970s.
Zambia remains one of NIRAS´ key markets in Africa with many opportunities in different sectors. NIRAS has been present in Zambia for about twenty years and established the current Niras Zambia ltd. in 2005. Together with experienced local NIRAS staff, Bo sees a great potential to explore the many project opportunities Zambia, especially within the WASH–sector (Water and Sanitation).
Besides being devoted to sustainable development and the NIRAS business Bo Rosenqvist is a devoted football fan.
After his retirement April 1 Mr. Benny Zimba will however, continue to support NIRAS Zambia and Bo as an external “ambassador” by sharing and drawing on his extensive local networks and deep knowledge of the consulting business in Zambia. During the six years at the helm of NIRAS Zambia, Benny Zimba has managed to build up and position NIRAS as a leading company in Zambia within climate change related issues and agricultural development. Among other projects NIRAS Zambia is currently managing the IFAD funded Strengthening of Farmer Organizations (S3P) project and provides crucial support to the implementation of the New Zealand funded Zambia Dairy Transformation Project. In NIRAS International Consulting we will miss Benny, for his leadership, strategic thinking in developing NIRAS in key sectors in the country and maybe most of all for his always good and positive outlook and optimism toward developing NIRAS’ role and reputation in Zambia. Benny has in his position managed to build good solid relations with our clients, ministry officials, through his charm and ability to bring laughter and lighten the mood at meetings, social gatherings as well as among all the staff in the daily work at the office.
