Former Industrial Dry Cleaning Facility

A detailed investigation of soil contamination with chlorinated solvents mixed with petroleum hydrocarbons under an existing operating facility was conducted using the TRIAD approach.

The field work was conducted during a 2-week period using 2 GeoProbe rigs and the full toolbox consisting of MIP, FLUTe liners, and Soil Coring. All soil, water, and soil gas samples were analyzed on site using DSITMS (Direct Sampling Ion Trap Mass Spectrometer) and the EPA 8265 method. A total of 75 samples of soil gas and 120 samples of soil were analyzed on site using the DSITMS system. A total of 23 MIP-profiles were produced and 2 FLUte liners installed to detect any residual DNAPL. Field analyses were performed by Triad Environmental Solutions, Inc.

During the field campaign, the conceptual site model was build, and upon the completion of the 2 weeks in the field, the model had matured to a degree sufficient to plan and design the remediation plan.
