PrintEU Water Framework Directive (EU WFD)
Scope
The implementation of the EU WFD (2000/60/EC) is an on-going
process in EU Member states and Accession countries to achieve good water
status for surface, ground and coastal waters by 2015. The approach and
strategy of the EU WFD is focussed on water quality, sustainability and
integrated water management (IWM) at the river basin level.
Implementation of EU WFD at river basin level is and will continue to be a
huge challenge over the coming years. NIRAS has a proven track record of
