By acquiring Chemcontrol in 2004, NIRAS has become one of the world’s leading experts on hazardous waste management. This allows us to participate in the worldwide development of cutting-edge methods for managing all types of hazardous waste. We work closely with environmental authorities, waste management companies, and manufacturers of waste handling and waste treatment equipment around the world.

Public and private projects

We carry out hazardous waste management projects all over Europe, Canada, North and South America, Australia, Africa and Asia. Most projects are funded by public institutions, such as the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the EU and the Danish Environmental Protection Agency. Other projects are financed by private enterprises and public-private organisations.

Our assistance in the area of hazardous waste management includes reviews of the basic legislation to capacity building, waste survey, conceptual design, financial analysis, feasibility studies, basic design, tender documents and supervision of construction.

Furthermore we provide technical and financial assistance to clients in the operation of disposal and recycling facilities for hazardous waste.
