Rural development and livelihood

In 2004, NIRAS acquired one of Europe’s leading agricultural consulting firms, Scanagri. As a result, we now offer a broad area of consulting services within rural business development and livelihood.

Our expertise covers planning, organisation and implementation of major integrated, area-based rural development and sustainable livelihood projects. We work on developing farmers’ and entrepreneurs’ worldwide access to markets, business development and production knowledge as well as on developing farmers’ organisations, co-operatives and individual enterprises.

A network of experts

NIRAS’ services are based on in-house specialists with many years of experience, as well as on access to a wide network of top experts and organisations. We use a broad range of participatory tools, such as gender sensitive measures and training.

Projects are either donor-supported or supported by private organisations, typically local producers and producer organisations.
