Leading European consultants develop and share knowledge

NIRAS has formed a network with three other leading European consulting engineering firms. This is an ambitious partnership in which the four firms are aiming to strengthen themselves, both in technical and business terms, through the sharing of knowledge.

The aim of this knowledge sharing is to be able to deliver the best solutions to the customers. ”The partnership gives NIRAS a fantastic opportunity to put our chief competencies into play in an international context,” says Carsten Toft Boesen, Managing Director of NIRAS. ”And it also means that we can deliver and develop services of even higher quality for the benefit of our customers.”

The four firms are drawing on all their own staff’s competencies and on contacts and networks in universities and institutions in their home countries. ”Since the partnership builds on interaction across four countries’strong scientific environments within technological know-how, the technical development of our staff will be strengthened to a considerable extent,” emphasises Claus Pilvang, Head of HR in NIRAS. ”It’s very satisfying for a scientific business like NIRAS.”

The network is called SEEN – an abbreviation for "Strategic European Expertise Network". It consists of NIRAS from Denmark, Sogreah from France, Tyréns from Sweden and Witteveen+Bos from the Netherlands.

For the time being the partnership has yielded a number of challenging projects, of both a developmental and a commercial nature. There is, for example, a Danish-Swedish research project on building processes, a harbour project in Poland, advanced fire analyses for the Amsterdam Metro and the decontamination of a NATO base in the Netherlands. The network is also being used for a co-ordinated effort on the implementation of new EU directives.
