NIRAS strengthens industry consultancy with the purchase of Pentra

The consulting firm NIRAS adds another recognised specialist company to its portfolio, thereby continuing the integration strategy that incorporated Scanagri, Chemcontrol and DEMEX into the concern last year.

The alliance is made by a share exchange, meaning that Pentra will be shareholders in NIRAS.

As a  consulting engineering company Pentra has specialised in the planning and design of process systems for the industry and is one of the most important consultants for the design of pharmaceutical systems. Clients include Novo Nordisk Engineering, LEO Pharma, Lundbeck, Fertin, Radiometer and Royal Copenhagen.

NIRAS' managing director Carsten Toft Boesen explains: "Our strategic goals have for a number of years been to increase our turnover among industrial clients. By taking over Pentra, we advance into the very elite group of consultants with core expertise on industrial processes. Including Pentra's 40 highly professional employees, NIRAS reaches a staff level of 850 employees."

a/s Pentra has its head office in Charlottenlund and a branch office in Kalundborg. The company was founded in 1972. "Pentra's office in Kalundborg provides NIRAS with the opportunity of expanding the co-operation with the Municipality of Kalundborg, and at the same time we will gain an important position in the future reform and formation of Region Sjælland", Carsten Toft Boesen says.

Pentra's managing director and newly appointed NIRAS shareholder Jørgen Steen Larsen explains that Pentra has over a longer period of time assessed different scenarios for the future. "The integration in NIRAS is a solution that fulfils Pentra's wish to maintain its strong professional identity and at the same time be a part of a broader and stronger organisation", a very contented manager says.
