PrintProject Management Course for Danida’s New Operating Methods
For the last 10 weeks the consulting engineering firm NIRAS has been running
a project management course, funded by Danida Fellowship Centre, for 19
students from Bolivia and Nicaragua in Copenhagen’s old building complex
Vartov.
The course tackles for the first time the subject of the decentralisation
of Danish overseas aid and the consequences for programmes and projects in
Danida’s recipient countries.
The course manager, Susanne Møller Andersen from NIRAS, explains: ”We have
of course attached importance to all the necessary competencies for a
project leader. But it has been something special to work on the new
reality which the students are increasingly faced with at home owing to
decentralisation. There is much interest in the subject and this is only
emphasised by the fact that Bolivia’s ambassador Barbara Canedo Patiño and
a representative from the Nicaraguan Embassy are attending our reception,
to be held on Friday at our offices in Allerød”.
In future most of the Danish overseas aid will be administered by the
recipient countries via the Danish agencies. Decentralisation is
therefore making increased demands on the recipients and is highly
significant to the students, who as employees in ministries, NGOs or
institutions work on a daily basis with projects or programmes funded by
Danida.
