NIRAS achieves results in Sweden

Since September last year the consulting engineering firm NIRAS has succeeded in establishing a good foothold in the environmental area in Sweden. NIRAS recently signed a two-year framework contract with SPIMFAB, which corresponds to the Danish Petroleum Industry’s Association for Remediation of Retail Sites.

Joakim Andersson has been spearheading the work and is very satisfied with the interim results: ”I began marketing NIRAS in Sweden barely one year ago. NIRAS is a well-known environmental consultant in Denmark but was still unknown in Sweden when my colleagues and I got started. Since   spring the work has started coming in and we’re looking at a very bright future.”

NIRAS’ framework contract with SPIMFAB will not yield any work until the autumn of 2007 since the projects for 2006 already are assigned. Joakim Andersson is excited about how much work will be forthcoming: ”Time will only tell. Until the projects starts we’ll be undertaking work for the town of Enköping and the Municipality of Ljusdal. In fact we’ve won two large contracts in Enköping so we’ll be fully occupied this autumn.”

Furthermore, NIRAS has run courses in handling contaminated soil for both public authorities and private firms. This has led to a wealth of good contacts who knows that NIRAS has the right knowledge and high capacity. The projects in Enköping also showed that NIRAS was in a position to achieve the highest number of points when their tender came up for assessment – even though they were up among the larger, established Swedish firms.

”We’re optimistic here in Stockholm,” concludes a satisfied Joakim Andersson, who now has to find more staff for the flourishing business.
