NIRAS merges with Biota

NIRAS has established a strong position in Finland in the field of development projects, in particular projects relating to agriculture and village development, and is, today, one of the largest players in the Finnish development aid industry. Naturally, the environment, climate and biodiversity have increased in importance and one specific result of this development is a multi-annual project in Latin America.

This first bridgehead will now be significantly reinforced by a merger with the Finnish company Biota, which is strongly positioned in the same field.

“Even though Biota is a small company, they have a very strong profile in the field, not least due to one charismatic and immensely competent person - Finnish professor Jukka Salo - who will also continue in an active role in the new construction”, Managing Director Carsten Toft Boesen says and continues: “Jukka Salo is known and respected in broad circles; in Finland, Latin America and, not least, in Peru where Biota has its own subsidiary.”

Various different models for the cooperation between NIRAS and Biota have been discussed for some time.  The fact that the result is a proper merger is of benefit to both parties.  NIRAS’ environmental profile in Finland will be strengthened and Biota will gain a sound, financial foundation and the benefit of a competent organisation which is able to handle both large projects and efficient operations and administration.

“The merger with Biota clearly enhances both our technical skills and our potential for continued growth in Finland.  At the same time, we have acquired TP Group which has also established a solid platform in consultancy for professional leaseholders, builders and developers in Finland.  It provides us with completely new potential for the development of our Finnish company”, concludes a satisfied Carsten Toft Boesen.
