PrintPlatform tunnel below Slagelse Station

The project includes rehabilitation of approximately 80 m of tunnel below
Slagelse Station. The tunnel is located below 7 railroad tracks that operate
one of the main railway passages in Denmark.
The project includes upgrading of the structure in regard to new regulations
of load-carrying capacity. At the same time the tunnel was protected against
penetration of moisture in forms of a new waterproofing and draining system.
Inside the tunnel the pavement and lighting has also been renewed in a way
that makes the tunnel appear as a friendly and safe passage.
Especially the work on the upper side of the tunnel demanded great caution
and timing in regard to maintain the running of the railway tracks. The
project is an example that NIRAS can manage cases that involves multi
disciplinary assignments. Besides knowledge of concrete and material
technology, knowledge of railway technology, draining and environment was
included.
