Ever since 1987 NIRAS has rendered consultative services on extension and optimisation of the two large-scale wastewater treatment plants in Esbjerg, including Denmark’s largest plant for sludge mineralisation. The plant treats wastewater sludge from the Esbjerg WWTPs East and West, the joint capacity of which totals 415,000 PE’s.
NIRAS has planned and designed the pumping system and the pipe network conducting non-dewatered sludge from the two WWTP’s into the mineralisation plant. Further, we have planned and designed pipes for return of drainage water from mineralisation plant to post-treatment at the WWTPs. We have also been in charge of detailed planning of the pipe network.
The work has been put to tender in key contracts. As regards the mineralisation plant, we elaborated all tender documents, and the project was accomplished as an EU-tender.
