Sustainability and climate issues are often two versions of the same story. At NIRAS, sustainability has always been a natural part of our planning. Therefore, handling of climate issue in planning has become a natural further development of our objectives for planning. Together with other units at NIRAS, NIRAS Planning has been involved in a number of concrete development projects on sustainability and climate adaptation in recent years, which has given NIRAS Planning considerable knowledge and experience within sustainable planning.
NIRAS has long experience of analyses, design and project development relating to sustainability. We have particular experience within:
- Sustainable urban planning. We have developed a tool for analysing sustainability in connection with urban development projects for the City of Copenhagen
- Sociological and anthropological analyses of behaviour and attitudes to sustainability. We have examined the population’s knowledge, attitude and behaviour in relation to climate issue and the environmental consequences of normal daily behaviour
