NIRAS has adapted the TRIAD approach developed by the US EPA. The approach is based on three cornerstones: Systematic Planning, Dynamic Work plans, and Real Time Data. We have demonstrated the power of this concept at several large Danish sites – providing both an accurate site characterization combined with significant cost and time savings.
The approach allows us to manage environmental decision uncertainty using real-time high density data. Real-time data and decision making based on a well-developed dynamic work strategy and conceptual site model (CSM) allows for real-time management of project objectives.
Since we have all the tools and knowledge for the TRIAD approach at our disposal, we can offer our clients a turn-key investigation based solely on our own highly trained staff and specialized equipment. The tools we generally use for investigations of chlorinated solvents include:
- GeoProbe sampling using the MIP-system combined with depth specific sampling of soil, ground water, and soil gas as well as FLUTe liners to detect residual DNAPL
- Near real-time on-site analysis of soil, ground water, and soil gas using Mass Spectroscopy and Gas Chromatography, which allows analysis of samples for all relevant volatile components to be performed on-site
- Real-time data management and visualization using Rockworks Software enabling us to store, consolidate, and interpret data on-site and communicate the results to the client during the execution of the project
