NIRAS assists Energinet.dk as client advisor in connection with the construction of Denmark’s first on-shore compressor station for natural gas.
The compressor station is an important factor in securing future supply of natural gas for Denmark and Sweden. The production of natural gas in the Danish part of the North Sea is decreasing, and the compressor station makes it possible to import natural gas from Germany by providing the possibility of increasing the pressure in the gas system.
NIRAS has been involved in organising and implementing the tendering process for the compressor station since September 2009. This resulted in the signing of a contract in December 2010 with Per Aarsleff A/S as main contractor for constructing the station.
From the turn of the year 2011 NIRAS is supervising the design- and construction phases and two employees are permanently stationed with Energinet.dk. The compressor station is to be ready for operation by October 1, 2013.
