Vietnam is one of the countries that are most at risk from disasters related to climate change. Improved energy efficiency mitigates climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The VNEEP is a component under the new support programme on climate change adaptation and mitigation to be implemented during the period 2009-2013 agreed upon by the Governments of Vietnam and Denmark. The overall programme objective is that improved energy efficiency in Vietnamese enterprises will contribute to sustainable development and a low carbon economy. The purpose of the VNEEP is to provide Technical Assistance (TA) with the following objectives:
- To increase capacity within Universities, Energy Efficiency Centres (EECs)/Energy Conservation Centers (ECCs), and energy management agencies to provide effective energy monitoring and management;
- To strengthen To strengthen MOIT capacity to fulfil VNEEP targets;
- For Vietnamese enterprises to adopt energy efficient practices and technologies where commercially viable
