New metro station is being constructed below the 100 year old train station. For this project NIRAS has developed a new approach for simulation of fires in train cars. In a project like this, it is essential to use CFD due to the complex ventilation principle, residual flows from the tunnels, wind pressure on openings, active and static smoke barriers, together with complex geometries in the interconnected shopping mall, bus station, train station and metro. It was necessary to investigate smoke spread through the entire complex.
