Evacuation Simulations are frequently used in complex buildings. Simulations are carried out in accordance with functional fire safety requirements. Together with CFD calculations, evacuation simulations are used to demonstrate a satisfactory safety level in a given building.
Simulations are also used to optimise the width and distribution of escape routes. In addition to emergency escape, NIRAS can undertake simulations for the design and planning of major sporting and concert events in general operation.
NIRAS primarily use STEPS and BuildingEXODUS for evacuation simulations. We also have the skills to utilise alternative simulation software where required by the client.
