The overall aim of the analysis was to involve citizens from different neighbourhoods and all social groups as well as other Copenhagen stakeholders in the development of the city. The life-form analysis characterises four different types of values with different views of the good city life.
Each form of life holds special urban-life qualities and has specific places in the city where they thrive the most. Each life form is accompanied by special urban-life values and expectations as to the development of the city and the planning by the City of Copenhagen. The main features of the life forms are relatively stable, but at the same time flexible, and they incorporate the trends and different places of the time.
The results have been used in the formulation of the City of Copenhagen’s City Planning Strategy. Furthermore, the analysis has been used in public relations activities such as community meetings and public-private partnerships, and as a basis for dissemination of information to citizens and other stakeholders. The research is qualitative and uses different techniques –city walks, photography, mapping, focus groups etc.
