The Government of Greenland experiences an increasing need to strengthen the conditions for growth of private business; for instance through a higher degree of innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises. However, it has turned out to be a challenge to both create and maintain entrepreneurship, growth and innovation in the small and medium-sized enterprises. This is due to a number of known barriers such as geographic conditions and infrastructural limitations; but apart from that there are presumably a number of culturally-conditioned barriers as well.
NIRAS has conducted an analysis that maps and documents the barriers to innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises in Greenland. The analysis was based on a field study, qualitative interviews and focus groups with special focus on culturally-conditioned barriers to innovation.
The result is now included in the political work on the Regional Development in Greenland.
